Members of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Holy Spirit Police Station (PS 14) arrested a Manila Development Authority (MMDA) constable after he allegedly extorted money from a truck driver he apprehended for a traffic violation in Quezon City on Thursday, Dec. 8.

Police identified the suspect as Raul Lapore, 53, a resident of Brgy. Batasan Hills, Quezon City.

Police said the suspect was on duty when he flagged down a truck driven by Crislie Rife, 30, at about 3:40 a.m. Thursday for alleged “oversize load” on Congressional Extension North Bound in Brgy. Culiat, Quezon City.

According to Rife, the suspect demanded P500 in exchange for non-issuance of a traffic violation ticket.

The driver negotiated with the suspect to reduce the amount he demanded.

Lapore agreed and accepted the P300 from the driver and let him leave.

PS 14 operatives conducted a follow-up operation after Rife reported the incident to them.

When PS 14 officers arrived at the said place, the suspect was caught in the act of engaging in another extortion.

Police immediately arrested the suspect after they recovered from him the P300 bribe money.

The suspect will face robbery-extortion charges under Article 294 of the Revised Penal Code, police said.
