Bay Area is no way leaving things to chance despite being armed with a twice-to-beat advantage after making a huge move to switch imports before the playoffs.
The PBA guest team is activating 6-foot-10 import Andrew Nicholson in lieu of Myles Powell and in time for its quarterfinals clash against Rain or Shine on Friday, Dec. 9.
Nicholson, who guided the Dragons to an even 2-2 record when he was the team’s reinforcement in the eliminations, is taking over for Powell who reportedly sustained an ankle injury in practice and was already relegated to the reserve list.
Not much is gonna change for Bay Area in terms of scoring with Nicholson posting an average of 38.5 points through his four games while Powell normed 37.25 points per outing.
Between the two, however, the Dragons seemed to be playing more comfortably with Powell who remained undefeated through the eight games he played in the elimination round – including his 50-point explosion against Rain or Shine on a scintillating 11-of-15 clip from deep in its 120-87 triumph over the Elasto Painters.
Nicholson’s addition, meanwhile, certainly gave Bay Area some height advantage over the Elasto Painters who only have 6-foot-5 Ryan Pearson as their import and local big men in Norbert Torres and Leonard Santillan.
With Nicholson back in tow, the Dragons will be leaning more on their wing and guard players in Glen Yang, Zhu Songwei and Kobey Lam.
