Zamboanga City holds anti-terrorism drill


ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Zamboanga City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ZCDRRMO) led the Interoperability Simulation on Terrorism and Mass Casualty Incident on Tuesday, Dec. 6, on several streets in the business district here.

Police, military, disaster, and other concerned agencies simulated emergency response in case of a terrorist attack involving a bomb explosion.

The exercise was held on, among others, Rizal and Lorenzo Streets and Corcuera Extension.

Operational response was evaluated by government agencies led by the ZCDRRMO to check on how to improve government response to mass casualties.

The activity, which aims to promote awareness on emergency preparedness in the community, was held in line with the observance of National Health Emergency Preparedness Day.

Among the offices and agencies that participated in the activity are the Zamboanga City Police Office, Task Force Zamboanga, Zamboanga City Fire District Central Station, Regional Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit-9, City Health Office, Security and Surveillance Coordinating Office-Command Center, Zamboanga City Medical Center, Philippine Red Cross, and civilian response teams.
