OTS seeks removal of security screening at Cebu airport entrance to avoid long queues

The Office of Transportation Security (OTS) is planning to do away with the initial screening at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport in a bid to avoid long queues at the entrance of the airport.

OTS Administrator Ma-o Aplasca said he will be going to Cebu on Friday, Dec. 9, to discuss the new protocol similar to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

"Our goal is for the passengers to easily go inside the terminal without hassle," said Aplasca.

The OTS earlier implemented new measures at the NAIA by removing the initial screening at the main entrance following reports that the NAIA is one of the most stressful airports in Asia for passengers.

Instead, airline passengers go directly to the airline counters.

But Aplasca advised airline passengers to be mindful of the prohibited items inside the airports.
