Two men who stole a total of P590,460 worth of cable wires in Taytay, Rizal were arrested by the police in Quezon City early Saturday morning, Dec. 3.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the suspects as Rosendo Fallorina, 54, and Christian Moreno, 25, both residents of Brgy. Chrysanthemum, San Pedro, Laguna.
According to the police report, the QCPD Anonas Station (PS 9) conducted a checkpoint at the corner of Katipunan and Pansol Avenues after they received a flash alarm from the PLDT Inc. at around 2:30 a.m on Saturday, regarding a cable theft incident along E. Rodriguez Avenue in Taytay, Rizal.
The suspects were onboard a green Centra motorcycle and an Isuzu six-wheeled closed van, police said.
At around 3:10 a.m. on the same day, the cops manning the checkpoint flagged down the description of the suspects’ vehicles.
The suspects drove their vehicles and sped off when the police officers are about to approach them which led to a brief chase.
Police arrested the suspects at the corner of NIA Road and Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue, Brgy. East Triangle in the city.
Authorities recovered around 175 meters of foam-skin filled (FSF) underground copper cable wires worth P590,460.
The case was already turned-over to Taytay Municipal Police Station, police said.
The suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10515 or the Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act of 2013.
