Some 300 backpacks were distributed to schoolchildren at the Tacloban North Resettlement in Tacloban City, Leyte on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022.
The distribution was made possible by the efforts of House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Leyte’s 1st district congressman; Committee on Accounts Chairperson Yedda Marie Romualdez of Tingog Party-list; and Deputy Majority Leader Jude Acidre, also of Tingog Party-list.
Also doled out to the kids were school supplies and snacks.
"They say that children are the nation's hope, and that knowledge is the key to this. Education opens up a world of possibilities and opportunities, allowing for rational thinking and sound decision-making," Tingog Party-list said in a statement Friday, Dec. 2
"Tingog believes that providing children with the necessary school supplies will allow them to keep up with their daily lessons and activities," the group added.
Tingog Party-list Rep. Romualdez is the wife of Speaker Romualdez.
