Imee distributes P9-M aid to 3,000 Samar folk


TACLOBAN CITY – Sen. Imee Marcos led the distribution of over P9 million in assistance to around 3,000 individuals from Samar province on Thursday, Dec. 1, in Santa Rita, Samar.

The assistance was coursed through the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the provincial government of Samar.

"Hopefully, all of us will see the successful revival of the handicraft of our very talented Basey weavers," Marcos said during her visit to the newly inaugurated Spark Samar Tourism Information Center.

People's organizations, “banig” (mat) weavers, and farmers from Catbalogan City, Basey, Santa Rita, Pinabacdao, Calbiga, Hinabangan, Marabut, Jiabong, Paranas, San Jose de Buan, Catbalogan, Pinabacdao, and Villareal towns received P3,000 each.

The assistance is part of the recovery efforts of the government to mitigate the effects of the pandemic, especially in the tourism sector.

The sister of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who also visited Tanauan, Dulag, this City, and Ormoc City, distributed nutribun to children.
