The baby girl, whose name was withheld, died while her parents, Jose Jingo Gantes, 32, and his wife Riza Mae Clair, 23, of Barangay Bi-ao, were wounded.

According to Binalbagan police chief Major Ellendie Rebusquillo, Jose tried to overtake a dump truck loaded with sugarcane, but, in an instant, tried to avoid Annabelle Geocada who was about to cross the street.

Rebusquillo said that the couple still hit Geocada which resulted in Jose losing control of his motorcycle which hit the pavement. The couple suffered injuries but their baby girl was not fortunate enough as the dump truck ran over her.

Rebusquillo said the baby succumbed to head injuries.

Rebusquillo said the dump truck driver was released from police custody on Wednesday, Nov. 30, following a settlement.
