Fitting tribute: BTS wins 3 grand prizes at 2022 MAMA Awards

K-pop powerhouse BTS bagged three grand prizes (“daesang”), the highest accolade, at the 2022 MAMA Awards held on Nov. 29 and 30 at Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan.

BTS won the Yogibo Artist of the Year, Yogibo Album of the Year for “Proof” and Yogibo Worldwide Icon of the Year at the 2022 MAMA Awards.

This brings the total number of grand prizes that BTS won at MAMA Awards (formerly Mnet Asian Music Awards) to 20 in the last seven years from 2016 to 2022.

In 2016, they brought home their first grand prize at MAMA–the Artist of the Year award.

Last year, they swept all the four grand prizes including Song of the Year. This year, the Song of the Year went to IVE’s “Love Dive.”

In addition to the three grand prizes, BTS also won Best Male Group, a “bonsang” (main prize) Worldwide Fans' Choice Top 10 and MAMA Platinum, given to them for winning all four grand prizes.

BTS member J-Hope, who attended and performed at the ceremony in Japan, took home the Bibigo Culture and Style and Most Popular Male Artist.
