Couple, son injured in Bacolod fire


BACOLOD CITY – A couple and their son were injured in a fire that razed their house in Purok Kaingin 1, Barangay Punta Taytay here on Sunday, Nov. 27.

The victims were identified as Rodolfo Ramos, 60; his wife Flordeliza, 59; and their son Peewee, 36.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire broke out while the victims were sleeping at past 3 a.m.

Rodolfo sustained first-degree burns in his left arm and right shoulder after he returned to their burning house to secure their motorcycle and vehicle, according to Insp. Jun Michael Manuel, deputy city fire marshal.

Flordeliza also sustained first degree burns in her right hand and an abrasion in her right leg. Peewee had first degree burns in his left arm.

The BFP declared fire out after almost an hour.

Damage to property was placed at P1.5 million. Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
