Marcos offers condolences to Indonesia on high earthquake death toll


President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has conveyed his condolences to Indonesian President Joko Widodo over the deaths caused by a recent strong earthquake in Indonesia.

"I express my deepest condolences to President Joko Widodo for the loss of lives caused by the 5.6 magnitude earthquake that hit Java, Indonesia," Marcos said in a Twitter post on Wednesday, Nov. 23.

"The heartfelt prayers of the Filipino people go out to the families of those lost and affected by this devastation," the President further said.

More than 200 people have died due to the earthquake while more than 150 individuals remain missing.

More than 1,000 were also reported to be injured. The earthquake happened on Monday, Nov. 21.
