Pisay-Calabarzon bags Outstanding Performing School award at math tilt in Thailand


The Philippine Science High School (PSHS) - CALABARZON Region Campus in Batangas City was hailed as the Outstanding School in the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO) Heat Round during the awarding ceremony on Nov. 15.

According to the PSHS System, Pisay-CALABARZON bagged seven gold, 12 silver, five bronze, and two merit awards.

According to Campus Director Jose Andaya, Pisay-CALABARZON mathletes train regularly after their regular school hours by answering math problems with different levels of difficulty and ranging from the different fields of math, namely logic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics among others.

“Constant training and motivation to our scholars help them perform well in the International Math Competitions. Most importantly, the PISAY -CALABARZONRC administration’s full support to this scholars’ endeavor is one of the main factors of this amazing performance, aside from the very supportive parents,” said Andaya.

Winning gold medals are Zach Randolf Enriquez, Harry Gerard Perez, Norton Fumera II, Vienne Stephanie Delos Santos, Jyuan Miguel Bendo, Mikaela Ysabel Valdez, and Gadriel Symone Dalangin.

The silver medalists include Kiersten Reese Bernice Solidarios, Vinz PJ Rayos, Dale Laurence Dantes, Gillienne Nicole Urrea, Audrik Jacob, D' Rafaelle Sofia Cueto, John Ivan Floirendo, Princess Ericka Marasigan, Aiden Jomeil Bercilla, Arielle Victoria Encarnacion, Alexa Amaya Dimapilis, and Ethan Lestat Tiongson.

Meanwhile, Nicole Kimberly Dimapilis, Grenier Sander Dalangin, Percival Macaranas IV, Adrian Joren Lantin, and Andre Gerald Dawe.

Nikola Tyrell Miguel and Leon Ruben Zalameda bagged the merit award.

“We also hope that students keep their love and enthusiasm for math alive, as achievements like this inspire other Pisay scholars not to fear but to explore and love math instead. Because honestly, appreciation for math is rare but is what we need nowadays,” Andaya said, when asked about his message to the students.

Special Science Teacher II Princes D. Bulaclac received the Outstanding Teacher Coach Award.

Mr. Romeo D. Madrona, Jr. and Ms. Siena A. Maranan also served as coaches.

TIMO is an annual Mathematical Olympiad competition organized by Olympiad Champion Education Center (OCEC) and the Thailand Mathematics Society.
