Update: BTS bags 3 nominations at 65th Grammy Awards

K-pop idol group BTS scored three nominations at the 65th Grammy Awards, which will be held on Feb. 5 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

On Nov. 15, the Recording Academy announced the nominees in 91 categories for the 2023 Grammys.

Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, Dan + Shay, Machine Gun Kelly, Olivia Rodrigo, and Smokey Robinson revealed the nominations.

The eligibility period for the 65th Grammy Awards was from Oct. 1, 2021 to Sept. 30, 2022.

For the 65th Grammy Awards, Coldplay and BTS bagged a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “My Universe,” a song that was released in September 2021.

“This Category recognizes artistic excellence in a duo, group or collaborative vocal or instrumental pop performance. Recordings on which a group receives artist billing are eligible here, even when the vocal features only one member of the group. The entire group or collaborative performance, rather than the presence of a lead vocal performance, determines Category eligibility,” according to the Grammy rules.

In addition, BTS’ “Yet To Come” is nominated for Best Music Video along with Adele’s “Easy on Me,” Doja Cat’s “Woman,” Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 5,” Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was” and Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well: The Short Film.”

Previously, the rule stated that all artists, songwriters, producers, recording engineers, mixers, and mastering engineers were required to be credited with at least 33 percent or more of playing time," the Recording Academy announced.
