Manila Water said barangays included in the list for this month will not be charged any additional fees to avail of the desludging service.

It also advised its customers to coordinate with their respective barangay offices for the siphoning and census.

The water concessionaire encouraged its customers to avail of the service to prevent the clogging and overflowing of their septic vaults and to help reduce untreated wastewater in waterways, creeks, and rivers.

Manila Water Corporate Communication Affairs Group Head Jeric Sevilla, Jr. noted that septic tank siphoning every five years is important “to ensure that the wastewater collected from septic tanks will undergo proper treatment through the company's septage treatment facilities before they are discharged back to bodies of water.”
