Collapsed unfinished riverside park in Roxas City under investigation


ILOILO CITY -- The local government of Roxas City, the capital of Capiz province, is investigating why the unfinished river park project partially collapsed over the weekend.

“Mayor Ronnie Dadivas has directed the Roxas City Engineer’s Office to determine the cause of the incident,” the Dadivas administration said in an official statement.


The Roxas City Riverside Promenade is still under construction by MBM Construction.

“Likewise, an independent committee shall be created to conduct a thorough investigation as to the overturning of the portion of the structure and thereafter submit their findings,” the statement added.


So far, the Roxas City Government has paid the contractor P4.3 million or 30.78% of the contract price.


“The Roxas City Government assures the public that forthwith this incident shall be dealt with accordingly,” the statement emphasized.


Meanwhile, MBM Construction gave the Roxas City government an assurance it will remedy any defects on the project as stated in its contract.
