Abando gets last laugh as Anyang spoils Alvano's solid outing for Wonju

Ethan Alvano may have gotten the better in his matchup with fellow Filipino import Rhenz Abando but it was the latter who had the last laugh after Anyang KGC defeated Wonju DB Promy, 99-84, in the Korean Basketball League, Thursday, Nov. 3.

Alvano saw his 22 points, three rebounds and three assists go for naught as Anyang came alive roaring in the second half following a slow first two quarters and was at the tailend at the break, 49-40.

Anyang exploded for 59 points in the second half, including a 33-point outburst in the third frame while limiting Wonju to a total of just 35 points in the final two quarters.

Omari Spellman led the charge for Anyang with a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds while Abando saw limited action in the rout with only seven minutes tallying two assists and a rebound.

Dewan Hernandez provided support to Alvano with 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

Meanwhile, SJ Belangel and his Daegu KOGAS Pegasus couldn’t follow up their 92-83 victory over Goyang Carrot Jumpers after yielding to Busan KTF Sonicboom, 97-81.

After putting up a season-best performance last time out with 25 points, Belangel struggled from the field, finishing with nine points on a 2-of-11 clip apart from three assists and two rebounds.

Four players scored in twin digits for the Pegasus led by the 20 of Yi Dae Seong but were not enough Busan import E.J Anosike torched the Daegu with 34 points and eight rebounds.
