Dress like Saint instead of portraying horror on halloween -- priest

ILIGAN CITY – Honor all saints by dressing like a saint instead of horror portrayal on Halloween season.

This was what Reverend Father Carmelo Pocdol, Parochial Vicar of St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral church here, told a gathering of thirty-two children and young people who joined a procession here.

‘Dress like a saint’ in honoring all the saints in the celebration of the All Saints’ Day, stressed Father Pocdol.

All 32 participants with their guardians, chapel leaders and priests marched in a procession from St. Michael's College and around the church following a holy mass.

Participants portrayed Saints Mary the mother of Jesus, Joseph her husband, Padre Pio, San Roque, San Lorenzo Ruiz and Pedro Calunsod among others.

John Paul U Villamor as John Paul the Apostle said it suits him because his second name comes from the saint himself.

Thus, he said, he is reminded that halloween is not just for horror but also about the saints that we should celebrate the same.

"In celebration of All Saints Day, we teach our young people, our children the gift of God na gihatagaan ta niya ug mga saints (that he gave us saints)", said Pocdol in an interview.

The activity is done every October 31.

Pocdol emphasized that instead of horror portrayal, it is important for the children to live in faith with the help of the saints.

"Like us they are human beings and they offered everything to God despite the difficulties,’ the father said.

Further, he urged everybody to continue to pray with the saints to God.

He said that the day of the saints is also a day for all of us to praise the Lord for his kindness and love for us.
