Former congressman Mike Defensor has come to the defense of his one-time House colleague Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla.

In a short but impassioned Facebook post, Defensor asked netizens not to judge Secretary Remulla for something that he had no part of.
"Huwag naman nating husgahan ang ama sa kasalanang wala siyang kinalaman at bantayan na lang natin ang pag-ikot ng hustisya (Let's not judge the father on a crime that he had no involvement in and instead let's just watch how the wheels of justice turn)," Defensor wrote.
Over the weekend, it was reported that Secretary Remulla's son, Juanito Jose Diaz Remulla III, was arrested by anti-illegal drug operatives for possession of P1.3 million worth of high-grade "kush" marijuana.
The elder Remulla has since said that he would neither intervene nor influence his son’s case.
"I stand with Sec. Boying Remulla. Mahirap naman na nagpapakaayos ka tapos may kapamilya kang gagawa ng kalokohan, damay ka na tuloy (Even if you're walking a straight path, you'll still get linked to an erring relative and that's a hard predicament)," Defensor said.
Defensor, who was Anakalusugan Party-list representative during the previous 18th Congress, said that the arrest clearly shows that the Remulla family hasn't been influencing authorities.
"Ngayon, pagdating sa sinasabing impluwensiya ng pamilya, hindi ba nahuli nga? Nasaan ang impluwensiya roon? Sa kaso naman, lahat tayo’y nakatingin at nakamatyag (Now, when it comes to alleged influence of the family, wasn't an arrest made? Where's the influence there? As far as the case goes, we remain vigilant)."

He further commented on the case: "Thirty-eight years old na ang anak niya at hindi natin kontrolado lahat ang nangyayari sa ating pamilya (His son is already 38 years old and we can't control everything that happens in our family)."
"At hindi naman tama na ang kasalanan ng isang nasa edad na at alam na ang tama at mali ay kasalanan mo na rin (And its not right that the wrongdoing of a person already of age and aware of what's right and wrong is also your wrongdoing)."
