Murder rap filed against public school teacher for killing student


GENERAL SANTOS CITY - A public school teacher is facing murder charges after he was tagged as responsible for the killing of a 21-year-old student in Tampakan, South Cotabato.

Police filed a murder complaint against Rustom Baloyo, 33, who was tagged in the killing of Jade Vince Eribal, 21, in Barangay Poblacion, Tampakan on the night of Oct. 8.

Tampakan police chief Capt. Juncint Aput said the identity of the suspect was captured by a closed-circuit television camera in the crime scene wherein the suspect repeatedly stabbed the victim while he was aboard a motorcycle.

Police arrested the suspect at his residence in Barangay Poblacion, Tampakan during a follow-up operation.

Investigation showed the suspect, who is reportedly a member of LGBTQ and the victim had an intimate relationship that turned sour.

Prior to his death, Eribal had reportedly received threats after he decided to quit his relationship with Baloyo.

Probers considered the case a crime of passion in which the suspect tried to get back at the victim who deserted him.
