Padilla accepts PNP Chief Azurin’s apology on improper use of ‘Muslims’

Senator Robinhood ‘’Robin’’ C. Padilla accepted on Tuesday, October 11, the apology of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief P/General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. on the `improper use of the word "Muslim" to describe criminals.

“I hope this will be an important first step to end discrimination against people based on their faith,” Padilla said.

“My wish is that our heroic policemen remove from their vocabulary the word ‘Muslim’ in referring to those who are linked to crime or terrorism,’’ he pointed out.

Padilla stressed that there is no connection between one's faith and his or her wrongdoing.

“That being said, I reiterate my full support for our heroic policemen as they fulfill their pledge ‘To Serve and Protect’,’’ he said.
