For nth time: Go tells eligible but unvaccinated Pinoys to get their shots

Senator Christopher ‘’Bong’’ Go encouraged all eligible yet unvaccinated residents to get their complete vaccine and booster shots.

Getting a jab against Covid-19 could significantly improve Filipinos' protection against the virus, Go, chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, said.

Go made the statement when he visited the North Cotabato province and personally joined the celebration of the 68th Founding Anniversary of the town of Makilala and Sinab’badan Festival yesterday, Oct. 7.

In his remarks, Go commended the people of Makilala for celebrating their historic culture and rich tradition despite challenges brought about by the pandemic.

He, likewise, reassured that the government would continue its unhampered service to the Filipino people and ensure that no one is left behind towards recovery.

After the ceremony, Go spearheaded a relief effort for 750 indigents of the town at the Makilala National High School Gymnasium.

The senator and his team provided grocery packs, masks, vitamins, shirts and meals to each resident and gave away cellular phones and watches to select individuals.

As a staunch advocate of grassroots sports development, Go, who chairs the Senate Committee on Sports, provided shoes, bicycles, and balls for volleyball and basketball to select individuals.

He then encouraged everyone to stay physically active and engage more in sports, saying, “I want you to continue what former President Rodrigo Duterte has started, the fight against criminality and the illegal drugs in a way that will encourage the youth to get into sports, stay away from drugs.:

The senator then reached out to those with health concerns and advised them to visit the nearby Malasakit Center at Cotabato Provincial Hospital in Kidapawan City and take advantage of the available medical assistance programs there.

“As chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, I was the one who pushed for the Malasakit Center law in the Senate. We have now 152 Malasakit Centers nationwide that are ready to serve you,” Go, who principally authored and sponsored Republic Act (RA) 11463, said.

As part of his efforts to boost the development in Mindanao, Go, who is a vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, supported the construction of several bridges, rehabilitation of roads, construction of Liga Office and the construction of a multipurpose building in Makilala town.

He said he remains dedicated to improving the country’s healthcare system as he supported the construction of four Super Health Centers in the province, including Barangay Kalaisan in Kidapawan, and the towns of Banisilan, Libungan and Arakan, which he personally inspected later that day.

Apart from inspecting the Super Health Center in Arakan, Go likewise provided aid to the town's indigent residents on the same day.
