FEU routs Letran; Lyceum edges EAC in SSL

Far Eastern University picked up its second win in Pool D with a straight set win over the debuting Letran, 25-12, 27-25,  25-15, in the Shakey’s Super League Collegiate Pre-season Conference Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila.

Despite an impressive opening set from the Lady Tamaraws, the Knights proved to be a real piece of work after saving three set points courtesy of rookie Nizelle Martin’s two consecutive through-the-block points to force a 24-all deadlock.

FEU wasted no time in the third frame and showed Letran complete control as Barbie Jamili delivered in crunch time for the Tamaraws with three straight blows to punctuate the match and improve their record to 2-1.

Jean Asis paced FEU with 11 points off 10 attacks and one block.

In the earlier game, Lyceum opened the hostilities and redeemed itself after a third-period setback against Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-23, 25-18, 22-25, 25-21, in their debut match.

The Lady Pirates secured a win in Pool B, joining University of Santo Tomas (2-0) and Adamson (1-1) in the column to open their SSL campaign.

Joan Doguna tallied 14 points off 11 attacks and three aces for Lyceum.
