Motorcycle-riding gunmen shoot woman dead on Mindanao Avenue

A woman was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding armed men along Mindanao Avenue Extension at the boundary of Caloocan City and Valenzuela City Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 5.

The Caloocan City Police Station Investigation and Detective Management Section (CCPS-IDMS) said the victim, Flordeliza Saavedra, 47, a human resources officer of a steel manufacturing company and resident Barangay Paso de Blas, Valenzuela City, was gunned down at around 5:40 p.m.

According to the police report, the victim and her colleague, Mark Vincent Bautista, 25, an accounting staff, rode a motorcycle after they left their office on Sitio Gitna St. in Caybiga, Caloocan City at around 5:07 p.m. on Wednesday.

As they reached Mindanao Ave. -- between Barangay 166 in Caloocan and Barangay Ugong in Valenzuela -- the suspects riding a black motorcycle suddenly appeared and repeatedly shot them.

Bautista managed to run but the gunmen continued shooting Saavedra, killing her.

Police said Bautista was also hurt during the incident and was rushed to the Valenzuela City Medical Center for treatment. Members of the Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS) went to the hospital to interview him.

The VCPS turned over the case to the CCPS-IDMS North for further investigation, police said.

Recovered from the crime scene were eight fired bullets believed to be from a .45-caliber pistol.

Follow-up operations are being conducted by operatives of the CCPS to identify and arrest the suspects.
