In order to achieve this goal, the DICT partnered with Google Philippines.

DICT said it saw the need of providing relevant ICT training courses upon discovering that the Covid-19 pandemic has altered the lives of Filipinos, with a sizeable part of the country’s workforce “either locally lost their jobs or found themselves unable to step up to the current demands of the current job market.”

“We aim to upskill and reskill the country’s population and create more employment opportunities across the citizen’s age and qualification spectrum,” said DICT Assistant Secretary for Upskilling Jeffrey Ian Dy in a press statement on Friday, Oct. 7.

Among the four courses that will be offered through Google’s Coursera.org include IT support, User Experience Design, Data Analytics, and Project Management.

Apart from these, a scholarship system will also be offered through a “criteria-based candidate selection process” to enable individuals with limited financial resources to join and participate in the said courses.
