Heads up! DPWH warns of traffic jams in Metro Manila this weekend


Expect moderate to a heavy buildup of traffic on major roads in Metro Manila this weekend as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced on Friday, Oct. 7, the resumption of their ocular road repairs on main roads.

The DPWH said several road sections in National Capital Region (NCR) would be temporarily closed for repair over the weekend starting at Friday midnight.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) allowed the DPWH to undertake the rehabilitation of portions of the Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Quezon City which include the northbound EDSA Carousel Bus Lane Santolan MRT Station.

The northbound EDSA Carousel Bus Lane after Boni Serrano to P. Tuazon Avenue was also affected by the rehabilitation works including northbound after Aurora Boulevard to Kamuning, the third lane from the sidewalk (intermittent section); and southbound from Balingasa Creek to Oliveros Footbridge.

Partial closure of roads was also implemented in some road sections in Quezon City which include northbound Fairview Avenue between Yakal Street and Milano Drive, and the second lane from the sidewalk.

The northbound portion of Cloverleaf EDSA to segment NLEX southbound; southbound of Roosevelt Avenue near corner EDSA southbound; and Payatas Road near AMLAC Ville Subdivision.

DPWH will also repair the C-5 Road, KM 15+171 to KM 15+665 truck lane in Pasig City.

One day-curing concrete will be used for the repair to reopen road sections by 5 a.m. on Monday, October 9.

The DPWH appealed for public consideration, saying that they are conducting rehabilitation and road repairs to give better services and convenience to the public.
