San Beda tries to force three-way tie for NCAA lead

San Beda is looking to keep the momentum going as it faces Jose Rizal University in the NCAA Season 98 men’s basketball tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Tipoff is set at 12:00 noon as both teams bank on their previous respective wins, with the Red Lions beating theirs rivals Letran Knights, 76-68, last Sept. 30 to improve to 4-1, while the Bombers prevailed over the Mapua Cardinals in an overtime win, 67-64, to improved to a 3-2 record on the same day.

James Kwekuteye and JB Bahio conspired in the fourth period to seal the win as San Beda also capitalized on the absence of Letran's key players in Brent Paraiso and Louie Sangalang who were slapped with suspensions.

San Beda, which will try to force a three-way tie for the lead with College of St. Benilde and Lyceum, was awarded another victory after Mapua was found to field an ineligible player in Gab Gamboa, forfeiting its opening win over the Lions last Sept. 10.
