Radio commentator shot dead in Las Piñas

A hard-hitting radio commentator died in an ambush by unidentified suspects in Las Piñas City, Monday night, Oct. 3.

Police identified the victim as Percival Mabasa also known as Percy Lapid, a DWBL radio commentator and a resident of San Beda Homes, Talon 2, Las Piñas City.

Investigation showed that the incident happened around 8:30 p.m. at the gate of BF Resort along Aria St., Barangay Talon 2, Las Piñas City.

The Las Piñas police said the victim was reportedly on board his black vehicle with plate number NGS 8294 when he shot by an unidentified suspect on board a motorcycle.

Police said the vehicle of the victim was about to enter the gate of BF Resort when the rear portion of his car was bumped by a white Toyota Fortuner while the other suspect on board a motorcycle shot Lapid.

The suspects reportedly fled to an unknown direction after the incident.

Relatives of the victim said Lapid was on his way home to do an online broadcast, Percy Lapid Fire.

Police recovered at the crime scene two pieces empty shells.
