The local government of Quezon City expressed sadness over an accident that left one person dead at a construction site in Barangay Balingasa, Quezon City, on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

A construction worker died while 10 others were injured after a scaffolding collapsed at the site of a city government housing project under a private contractor around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Quezon City government said that it "sincerely regrets the unfortunate incident."

It stated that five of the 10 injured workers were discharged from the hospital, while the other five are still recovering from minor injuries.

The local government said that "the private contractor has already extended assistance to its workers."

"The city government has ordered concerned city offices to assist the family of the deceased and the injured victims," it said.

The city government also said the City Architect and Infrastructure Committee visited and inspected the construction site to ensure the area's safety.

"A thorough investigation is underway to determine if there were lapses in the observance of standard construction procedures and to recommend measures to ensure that such untoward incidents will not happen again in the future," it added.
