BI nabs wanted Norwegian accused of molesting minors; Chinese tagged in pyramid scam


Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents have arrested a Norwegian accused of molesting minors in his country and a Chinese national wanted by his government for running a pyramid investment scam.

BI Commissioner Norman G. Tansingco said 50-year-old Karstein Kvernvik alias Krokaa Karstein Gunnar was nabbed at his residence in Angeles City by agents of the bureau's fugitives search unit (FSU).

The BI chief said 44-year-old Fu Qihao, was arrested by FSU agents in Malate, Manila.

An arrest warrant was issued against Fu by the public security bureau in Shanghai, China for allegedly running an investment pyramid scam victimizing his compatriots.

Tansingco said both Kernvik and Fu will be deported for being undesirable and undocumented aliens as their passport have already been revoked by their respective governments.

The BI chief described Kvenvik as a high profile fugitive who is charged with multiple sex-related crimes in Norway.

The Interpol’s national central bureau (NCB) in Manila disclosed that the Norwegian has outstanding warrants of arrest issued by the Salten and Lotofen district courts in Norway.

They are detained at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig pending deportation.
