Zamboanga City bridge closed after damage sustained from heavy rains

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Tumaga Bridge here was ordered closed to traffic by the City Engineer on Monday, Oct. 3, after sustaining heavy damage from two days of heavy rains.

THE Tumaga Bridge in Zamboanga City sustained heavy damage from two days of heavy rains.

Barangay Tumaga Captain Jackie Lim said heavy rains flooded the river and the strong current worsened the cracks on its base observed since last week.

The city government decided to close the bridge to motorists after an assessment of damage.

Lim advised motorists to use other roads in entering and exiting the barangay.

The bridge connects the barangay to nearby Barangays Tetuan and Sta. Maria.

It is used by hundreds of public utility jeepneys and private vehicles daily and it is the shortest route to the city proper.
