13,292 students in Bacolod, Negros Occidental receive P37-M DSWD educational assistance


BACOLOD CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Western Visayas released P37,285,000 in educational assistance here and Negros Occidental to 13,292 distressed students.

The DSWD said 2,997 were elementary pupils, 2,494 were high school students, 1,904 were senior high school students, and 5,897 were college students.

They were part of the 46,055 students in the region who were able to receive cash assistance amounting to P129,780,000 during the series of payout in six Saturdays – Aug. 20 and 27 and Sept. 3, 10, 17, and 24.

Despite shortcomings in the first payout, the DSWD regional office thanked parents and students for their understanding and patience.

The agency also thanked those who helped and supported them in the processing and release of the educational assistance.
