WTFu by MR. FU: Adding color to celebrity hair

Mr. FU

An online entertainment site recently featured celebrities with striking hair color. There was the red hair of veteran actress Snooky Serna, the blue grey highlights of dramatic actress Janice de Belen, the several color changes of teleserye ladies Glyza de Castro, Kylie Padilla and Myrtle Sarrosa and the blonde hair of Ken Chan and Mark Herras. Incidentally, I was also on the list. (di ko yun inexpect ha!)

I started being conscious about my hair during may gradeschool years. (ang aga maging vain ha!) I would always put gel and hairspray on my crowning glory.

In high school and college, I would really save money to have my hair done in a reputable salon. (kebs kung walang makain basta may pampa gupit with hair treatment ha!)

Lucy Britanico

When I started working as a TV news reporter, I maintained that sleek hairstyle (dapat ala Korina o Tita Mel) but shifting to TV entertainment hosting inspired me to be more adventurous. (dapat ala Oprah na!) My very first hairstylist was Salon Le Vive’s Ayit Chiu. It was her who encouraged me to go blonde. (yung dinaig pa si Marilyn Monroe!) When she decided to leave her business, (naimbyerna ata sakin!), I met Salon Expert, Lucy Britanico. During our first meeting, she immediately made me an ambassador of her chain of salons Lucy Britanico Salon and all branches of her Hairshaft Salon.

Lucy used to style my hair, but she eventually delegated the task to her trusted team. Bamboo Ballesteros was one of them. He became my personal stylist for five years. Unfortunately, he passed away due to illness. It was Carl Dana who took over Bam’s job. He is the one responsible for my hair color changes every three weeks. But after five years, he decided to put up his own salon. (sya nagpakilala ng turquoise sa hair ko!) I opted to stay with Lucy’s company and my current stylist is Nico De Chavez of Hairshaft Salon Vertis North.

Mr. FU with Nico de Chavez

I have been with Lucy Britanico Salon and Hairshaft Salon for 15 years now. Lucy and her husband Fred became my good friends (even their stylist children Migs and Aleda at yung buong staff nila!) They always take good care of me, even if they are now sponsoring so many celebrities (kulang nalang may rebulto ako sa bawat branch nila!)

Having a good relationship with your hairstylist is important. (yung listen sya sayo, listen ka sa kanya sa mga suggestion) It is also a requirement that he has undergone good training. (para di ma-murder ang haireret!) Being friends with him is a plus factor.
