‘Habagat’ rains may persist across western parts of Luzon, Visayas

(MANILA BULLETIN)

The southwest monsoon or “habagat” and the trough or extension of typhoon Karding may continue to bring cloudy skies and scattered rain showers over the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon and Western Visayas in the next 24 hours, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 4 a.m. bulletin on Tuesday, Sept. 27, PAGASA said scattered monsoon rains may affect Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Bataan, Zambales, Antique, Aklan, Iloilo, Capiz, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental.

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains in these areas.

Meanwhile, improving weather will prevail over the rest of the country, especially in areas that have been affected by the onslaught of typhoon Karding.

The typhoon left the country’s area of responsibility at 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26.

PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of rain showers or thunderstorms may prevail across the rest of the country.

However, the public is still advised to stay vigilant for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
