‘Karding’ displaces 238 families in Cordillera


BAGUIO CITY – Typhoon “Karding” affected 238 families or 763 persons from 25 barangays in the Cordillera region.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Cordillera said as of 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, 43 families – 20 in Benguet and 23 in Mountain Province – or 99 individuals are still staying in evacuation centers.

Affected families live in nine barangays in Abra, six in Benguet, one in Kalinga, and nine in Mountain Province.

The DSWD added that 59,745 family food packs amounting to P39,741,177.31 are ready for distribution.

There are also 26,538 non-food items amounting to P44,271,077.20 ready for distribution.
