Taguig LGU suspends classes, work as NCR placed under signal No. 3 due to ‘Karding’ 


The Taguig City government suspended all classes and work at the city hall for Sept. 26 as Metro Manila was placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3 due to super typhoon “Karding.”

“Classes in all levels for both public and private schools in Taguig are suspended tomorrow, September 26, Monday. PAGASA announced in its 5 a.m. bulletin that ‘Karding’ has now intensified into a super typhoon,” the city government announced on Sept. 25.

It added, “Metro Manila, including Taguig City is now under TCWS Signal No. 3. Severe weather is to be expected as early as this afternoon to last through the evening until early morning tomorrow, September 26, Monday.”

The Taguig City government issued another advisory to say that “work in government offices in Taguig City are suspended tomorrow, September 26, Monday due to Super Typhoon Karding. (Except those departments and offices involved in disaster and emergency operations).”

“Private companies and offices are encouraged to also suspend work for the safety of their employees. They can also consider alternate and remote work options such as telecommuting (Work From Home) arrangements,” it added.

The city government advised the public of the following:

WHAT TO DO DURING A TYPHOON

* STAY UPDATED

- Monitor the typhoon movement and weather updates through television, internet or radio.

* EXPECT POWER INTERRUPTIONS

- Keep the gadgets fully charged.

- In case brownout occurs, keep an eye on lighted candles or gas lamps.

* PROTECT YOUR HOME

- Keep all windows closed.

- Put important appliances and belongings in a high ground.

- Secure paper documents in your emergency kits.

* PREPARE FOR AN EVACUATION

- Evacuate calmly if you are advised to do so.

- Store canned goods or ready-to-eat food items and drinking water enough for 3 days.
