Preemptive evacuations ongoing in Manila amid super typhoon ‘Karding’


The city government of Manila started the preemptive evacuation of its residents living in vulnerable areas in the city on Sunday, Sept. 25.

According to Lawyer Princess Abante, the communications head of the city of Manila, preemptive evacuations are ongoing in vulnerable barangays and areas in the city.

As of 8 p.m., at least 122 affected families are currently at Baseco Evacuation Center; 16 families at Isabelo Elementary School; 52 families at Brgy 101 Covered Court; 32 families at Brgy 105 Covered Court; seven families at Benigno Aquino Elementary School; and two families at Brgy 128, Building 18.

Meanwhile, all six city hospitals are currently on ‘white alert’.

The city government earlier announced the suspension of all classes in both public and private schools, and work in local government offices on Monday, Sept. 26.
