Over 8000 individuals on path of Super Typhoon 'Karding' flee homes


More than 8,000 individuals who are residing on track of Super Typhoon "Karding" (international name: Noru) were evacuated to safety shelters, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Sunday night, Sept. 25.

Karding unloaded heavy rains and howling winds that toppled trees and posts as it made its second landfall in the vicinity of Dingalan, Aurora at 8: 20 p.m.

Based on an unofficial tally released by the NDRRMC around 9:30 p.m., a total of 2,293 families or 8,391 individuals were evacuated due to the threats of flooding and landslides in the National Capital Region (NCR), Ilocos Region (1), Cagayan Valley (Region 2), Central Luzon (Region 3), Calabarzon (Region 4A), and Bicol (Region 5).

The breakdown of the evacuees is as follows: NCR with 908 families (3,450 persons); Region 1 with 22 families (54 persons); Region 2 with 91 families (319 persons); Region 3 with 897 families (3,164 persons); Region 4A with 357 families (1,375 persons); and Region 5 with 18 families (30 persons).
