Hyun Bin’s ‘Confidential Assignment 2’ reaches 5 million tickets sold 


Korean star Hyun Bin’s comeback film “Confidential Assignment 2: International” has achieved another feat.

Distributor CJ ENM announced that “Confidential Assignment 2: International” has reached five million in the total number of tickets sold on Sept. 22, the 16th day since it was released in South Korea on Sept. 7.

Based on data from the Korean Film Council, CJ ENM said “Confidential Assignment 2: International” reached a cumulative audience of 5,015,612 at 7 a.m. KST on Sept. 22.

This was faster than “Top Gun: Maverick,” which reached the five-million ticket mark on the 23rd day of release.

As of Sept. 21, “Confidential Assignment 2: International” has sold 4,997,489 tickets and grossed $36,546,603, according to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), which tracks box office receipts.

“Confidential Assignment 2: International” has become the third Korean movie to sell at least five million tickets this year after “The Roundup” and “Handsan: Rising Dragon.”

To mark the five-million ticket milestone, the cast and director of the film took a commemorative photo. They were Hyun Bin, Daniel Henney, Yoona, Yoo Hae-jin, Jin Seon-kyu and director Lee Sun-hoon.

As of Sept. 21, “Confidential Assignment 2: International” ranked fifth among the most-watched movies in South Korea this year.

“The Roundup” is first with 12.69 million in the total number of tickets sold followed by “Top Gun: Maverick,” 8.15 million tickets; “Hansan: Rising Dragon,” 7.25 million; “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” 5.88 million; and “Confidential Assignment 2: International,” 4.99 million.
