For Filipinos growing up abroad, a way for them to connect is through Filipino food, whether it is through their family’s cooking or humble Pinoy snacks. The same thing happened to Jo Koy who grew up in Washington. The Fil-Am comedian’s childhood years were filled with good memories of Filipino snacks and during his appearance on “Today With Hoda & Jenna” show, he shared some of the treats that made him feel closer to the Philippines.
Prior to the tasting with the show’s hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, Jo Koy when on a shopping trip at Phil-Am Food Mart at Little Manila in New York. What he put in his basket are beloved Filipino crackers Oishi and Chippy, sweet treats like hopia and ensaymada, and, of course, the iconic Choc Nut. “This brings me back to my childhood, I swear,” he said
