The PBA trade committee has given the green light to the trades that will see high-flying forward Jamie Malonzo and shooter Von Pessumal land to Ginebra.

Initially part of a complex three-team trade involving Ginebra, San Miguel and NorthPort, two separate trades were added after getting the clearance by the PBA on Tuesday, Sept. 20

The first one saw the Kings let go of sweet-shooting forward Arvin Tolentino along with reliable backup big man Prince Caperal and a 2022 first round draft pick to the Batang Pier for the rights of Malonzo.

Pessumal, on the other hand, was sent by San Miguel to NorthPort for the 2024 and 2025 second round draft picks before the Batang Pier then shipped him to the Kings in exchange for Jeff Chan and Kent Salado.

A few tweaks were done in the initial proposal including the addition of Ginebra’s first round pick to sweeten the pot.

With the trade, an already potent Ginebra crew that featured reigning MVP Scottie Thompson, LA Tenorio, Stanley Pringle, Japeth Aguilar and Christian Standhardinger got a huge boost ahead of the Commissioner’s Cup.

The Batang Pier, meanwhile, had four welcome additions to a core of Robert Bolick, Roi Sumang, Kevin Ferrer and Arwind Santos.
