As one of the judges during the first season of "Idol Philippines," comedian-TV host Vice Ganda has sent a special message to the new winner.

The new winner of "Idol Philippines" is Khimo Gumatay, who took home a franchise from Dermacare worth P3 million, a recording contract from ABS-CBN Music, P1 million cash, and a house and lot worth P2.5 million.

Prior to the announcement of the winner during the grand finale, Vice said: “Sana maraming magbukas na opportunities sa’yo."

Then added in jest: "Sana mag-stay ka muna dito sa network na ‘to.”

The statement made this season's jurors laughed out loud, seemingly understanding what Vice meant.

In 2019, Zephanie Dimaranan was hailed as the champion of ABS-CBN's reality TV singing competition.

Following the non-renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise and the pandemic in 2020, the 19-year-old star signed an exclusive contract with GMA early this year.

Meanwhile, turning serious, Vice - who was a special guest on "Idol Philippines Season 2" - shared an inspiring message to the aspirants.

He said: “Sa mananalo at pati sa lahat ng mga sumali na nagsimula naman na ang kanilang singing career, tapangan ninyo. Tapangan ninyo kasi lahat meroing talent pero ‘di lahat matapang kaya bumibigay agad.”

“Sa napakaraming pagsubok na haharapin niyo. Hindi easy ang showbiz. Hindi ito easy money. Akala nila easy money. Andami mong isasakripisyo dito at lahat yon kailangan may kasamang tapang kaya tapangan ninyo,” he added.
