Over 7,500 jobs up for grabs in DOT-DOLE’s job expo in Manila, Cebu, Davao

A total of 7,510 jobs are up for grabs in the first leg of the 1st Philippine Tourism Jobs Fair set this month, the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced on Monday, Sept. 19.

According to DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, pre-registration for the Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso! Jobs Fair is now open to prospective job seekers in Manila, Cebu, and Davao City.

The Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso! Philippine Tourism Job Fair is the flagship employment program of the DOT and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

“To further assist our kababayans and make their job-seeking experience more seamless at the Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso! Philippine Tourism Job Fair, the DOT, and DOLE have opened the pre-registration for all three legs of the fair, covering one step of the application process,” said Frasco.

The pre-registration process enables the job seekers to focus on the event, getting to know the participating establishments and companies to determine the line of jobs they wish to pursue.

The first leg of the Manila exposition will run from Sept. 22 to 24 at the SMX Convention Center Manila, in Pasay City. Applicants can register via https://bit.ly/philtourismjobfair.

While job seekers for the Cebu leg and Davao leg, which will be held from Sept. 22 to 23, are set to blast off at the SM City Cebu and Abreeza Mall Davao, accordingly. Job hunters can register ahead of time at https://bit.ly/cebuphiltourismjobfair and https://bit.ly/davaophiltourismjobfair, respectively.

To date, 147 establishments from the three locations signified their intention to participate in the initial run of the job expo.

Frasco said as of Sept. 16, most of the participating companies are accommodation establishments, travel & tour services, Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) facilities and organizers, tourist transport operators, health and wellness services, restaurant/food services, and other tourism-related establishments.

At least 3,367 jobs from the National Capital Region (NCR), CALABARZON, and MIMAROPA are up for grab during the Manila leg, while Cebu and Davao will open 1,633 and 2,510 jobs from the Visayas and Mindanao, respectively.

“While the DOT continues to work towards President Bongbong Marcos’ vision for tourism to contribute greatly to our country’s economic resurgence, we fully understand the need for this to be met with efforts to fortify the tourism and allied industry workforce," Frasco said.

"We could not be more grateful enough to the DOLE, the local government units (LGUs), and all our partners in the private sector who have supported us in this important endeavor to bring back lost jobs and present a multitude of new opportunities for employment and greener pastures in the tourism industry to our fellow Filipinos,” she added.
