Gabriela on Palace’s new catering area: Waste of taxpayers’ money

The groundbreaking of the new catering area in Malacañang is nothing but a “waste” of taxpayers’ money, a women’s group said.

Gabriela Women’s Party Representative Arlene Brosas slammed the establishment of a new catering area in the Palace amid the worsening economic crisis.

“Kulang ang budget para sa ng mga eskwelahan, pero mabilis makapaglaan ng pondo ng catering area (The budget for the construction of schools is insufficient, but funds can be allocated quickly for the construction of the catering area),” said Brosas.

This statement was issued after First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos posted on her Facebook page a photo of the groundbreaking of the said catering area on Thursday, Sept. 15.

“This is peak insensitive and a waste of people’s money,” Brosas added.

Brosas likewise slammed the family’s conduct of “extravagant parties,” reiterating that these are all taking place while Filipinos are suffering amid the further weakening of peso and the increasing public transport fee.

Meanwhile, days before the anniversary of Martial Law declaration, the women’s partylist urged the public to resist attempts to glorify former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.’s “legacy of plunder and corruption.”
