Back community-based monitoring system, DILG urges Western Visayas LGUs

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) urged the local government units (LGUs) in Western Visayas to support the implementation of the 2022 Community- Based Monitoring System (CBMS) which will have a direct positive impact in the cities and municipalities.

The CBMS is a systematic technology-based collection of disaggregated data that is obtained through a face-to-face interview of responsible household individuals in the community.

DILG Region 6 Juan Jovian E. Ingeniero explained that the data gathered from program can be utilized for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of local government programs.

He made the call to support the CBMS Regional Press Launch initiated by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region 6.

“In line with the commencement of the enumeration period of the said program, the activity aims to update all concerned stakeholders of the status of the implementation and the major activities involved in the coming months,’’ the DILG said.

The DILG Region 6 Office also held a three-day Mid-Year Planning Conference aimed at redirecting the region’s 2022 Annual Operation Plan and Budget (OPB).

“Participants from the DILG Regional, Provincial, and City offices gathered to devise strategies and set priorities that would maximize resources, strengthen operations, and ensure cohesive work towards a common goal,’’ the DILG noted.

Ingeniero stressed the value of unity, open communication and teamwork among the stakeholders to attain the missions and visions of the DILG.

The DILG Region 6 chief pointed out that it is essential to increase the LGUs’ capacity under full devolution, fortify their disaster preparedness and beef up the internal capacity of the department to ensure their heightened performance. (Chito A. Chavez)
