2 men nabbed for stealing cable wires in Manila


Two men were arrested by the police for allegedly stealing over P57,000 worth of cable wires along Miguelin St., Brgy. 475, Zone 47 in Sampaloc, Manila, on Saturday evening, Sept. 3.

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspects as Tito Arce, 61, and Ali Andre Sarip, 22, both residents of Manila.

Cpl. Aaron Torres from the Sampaloc Police Station, investigator on case, said that the Barangay 475 officials reviewed the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in the area after receiving a report from a concerned citizen regarding the incident.

The barangay officials saw on the CCTV footage the suspects while dismantling wires owned by the PLDT Inc. from a post using an aluminum ladder and a metal hand saw. They immediately reported to the España Police Community Precinct.

Responding police officers went to the area and arrested the suspects.They also recovered the stolen cable wires.

Arce and Sarip were brought to the Camp Crame Forensic Group for medico-legal examinations and then to the Sampaloc Police Station for documentation and proper disposition.

The suspects will face theft charges, police said. (Diann Ivy Calucin)
