P720,000 shabu seized, 5 arrested in Taguig 


Taguig police seized nearly P720,000 worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and arrested five persons in anti-illegal drug operations in Taguig on Aug. 25 and 26, according to Southern Police District acting director Col. Kirby John Kraft.

On Capt. Ciano Street in Barangay Ibayo Tipas, Taguig Police Substation 5 personnel were patrolling when they saw suspect Joshua Christian Lontoc, 32, in possession of three plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing six grams with a value of P40,800. He was immediately arrested.

The police’s Drug Enforcement Unit, meanwhile, conducted a buy-bust operation on Navy Road Extension in Barangay South Signal, Taguig that resulted in the arrest of suspect Arnel Adrian Andrade, 28, and Ronnie Raposas, 36, construction worker.

Seized in the operation were six plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 7.2 grams valued at P48,960, and P200 buy-bust money.

The DEU also conducted another operation on 8th Street in Barangay Katuparan and arrested John Mark Orellana, 36.

Confiscated during the operation were 11 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 18.1 grams worth P123,080, and P200 buy-bust money.

On Aug. 26, the DEU launched another sting at Road 18, Maguindanao St., Barangay New Lower Bicutan. They arrested Norodin Lillan, 29.

Seized were 11 plastic sachets containing substance believed to be shabu weighing 67 grams with a total value of 455,600, and P1,000 buy-bust money.

In another operation by the DEU, 43-year-old construction worker Joel Frias was arrested on General Luna Street in Barangay Ususan.

Seized from him were five plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 7.5 grams valued at P51,000, and P200 buy-bust money.

The seized illegal drugs were turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit for chemical analysis. The suspects will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

Kraft commended the Taguig police for the operations.
