He took to Instagram on Aug. 22 to announce his discharge.

“I learned and felt a lot and had a healthy life as a marine. Thank you to everyone who waited. Part 2 begins,” the 30-year-old star wrote.

Part of the photo he posted is an award certificate from the Korea Marine Corps, which read, “The above person faithfully performed his duties with a strong sense of duty, and in particular, he has contributed greatly to the realization of a healthy and vibrant advanced barracks through active participation in the True Marines Innovation Movement 2.0, so this award is given.”

The Korea Marine Corps announced on Instagram that 1,267 recruits that included L who enlisted on Feb. 22 last year were discharged on Aug. 21.

Military service is a mandatory duty for all Korean men and L enlisted after starring in the drama “Royal Secret Agent.”

He applied for voluntary enlistment in the Marine Corps in 2020 before he started filming “Royal Secret Agent” and was accepted.

Prior to his enlistment, he released the solo debut single “Memory” and held an online fan meeting. Kim Myung-soo debuted as a member of Infinite in 2010 and ventured into acting.
