Mayor offers free 5 kilos rice for booster jabs in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Mayor John Dalipe here is providing five kilos of rice for free to persons who will get their booster shots at the Zamboanga night market, a program conducted by the local government to ramp up booster vaccination in this city.

The announcement led to dozens of people lining up hours before the opening of the night market Wednesday, August 17.

Dalipe monitored the provision of rice to night market visitors.

The activity is jointly implemented by the City Health and City Social Welfare and Development offices.

Dalipe said he thought of offering the freebie to encourage more people to get their booster shots after a surge of Covid-19 cases was observed here.

The booster vaccination program is in support of the national government's “Pinaslakas” campaign with the objective of increasing the wall of immunity against the coronavirus.

The night market was opened early this week as the first salvo by the city government leading to this year's Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.
