Honor students in San Juan public schools get cash incentives

More than 500 honor students in San Juan City's public schools have received financial incentives from the city government on Tuesday, Aug. 16, for their exemplary academic performances.

“San Juan City is very proud of our student achievers. This is to let them know that the Local Government of San Juan values education and we put those who work hard in their studies in high esteem,” Zamora said.

He added that Grade 12 students who finished with the highest honors received P10,000, those with high honors received P7,000, and those with honors took home home P5,000.

Grade 10 students who finished with highest honors received P7,000, P5,000 for high honors, and P3,000 for those with honors.

Grade 6 students received P5,000, P3,000, and P2,000, respectively.

On Monday, Aug. 15, Zamora said the city government will set up Covid-19 satellite vaccination sites in public schools as part of its preparations for the return to face-to-face classes (F2F) on Aug. 22.

In an interview with ANC, the mayor underscored the importance of getting vaccinated and boosted against the virus following the detection of several cases of the Omicron sub-variants which are more transmissible and have the ability to escape the vaccines.

“We really have to be proactive. In fact, once we open our public schools on Aug. 22, we will set up satellite vaccination sites in all 13 public schools. Again, we cannot force children or their parents to get boosted but we can always encourage them,” Zamora said.

Aside from house-to-house vaccination, the city government had also set up vaccination sites in malls and other high volume commercial establishments to encourage people to get vaccinated and boosted.
