Taguig LGU launches ‘PinasLakas’ booster vax drive 


The Taguig City government launched the “PinasLakas” vaccination drive which aims to increase booster shot coverage.

Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano went to the Tenement Elementary School on Aug. 15 to start the vaccination campaign by the Department of Health, Department of Education and City Health Office.

“Focus ng programang ito ang booster vaccination ng mga senior citizens at mga kabataan na magbabalik-eskwela na (The focus of this program is the booster vaccination of senior citizens and the youth who will be returning to school),” Cayetano posted on Facebook.

She appealed to parents for their understanding and cooperation about the vaccination drive.

“Hinihimok natin na kumbinsihin ang kanilang kapwa mga magulang na may pangamba pa rin sa pagpapabakuna. Walang papantay sa kapanatagan ng isip at kaligtasan ng inyong mga anak. (We encourage them to convince other parents who have concerns about vaccination. Nothing will match the peace of mind and safety of your children),” said Cayetano.

From Aug. 8 to 12, the Taguig City government vaccinated 8,152 individuals. Of the total, 2,766 adults received their first booster shot and 2,342 got their second booster dose.

In addition, 794 minors aged 12 to 17, and seven from the five to 11 years old age bracket, were given their first booster shot.

Based on the DOH’s Covid-19 Tracker, as of Aug. 15, Taguig has 938 active Covid-19 cases including 94 new cases out of 88,136 confirmed cases, 86,656 recoveries, and 542 deaths.
